TN-ITS Guidelines for Data Senders and Data Receivers

The work of TN-ITS is divided into five working groups (WG), each addressing a different range of issues, including location referencing, reference implementation, specifications and standards, and policy awareness. At the end of last year, WG3, which deals with TN-ITS implementation support, issued guidelines on better understanding and use of TN-ITS data. The guidelines come in a set of two documents – one for data senders and one for data receivers.

The purpose of the document set is to give an overview of the steps necessary to implement a TN-ITS compliant data exchange and to provide reading instructions of the TN-ITS documentation relevant to receiving changes from the service and their transformation to the receiver’s data store.

The role of the data sender is normally held by an enacting authority (i.e. the entity responsible for supervising the establishment of laws and regulations for transport and traffic), whereas the role of the data receiver can be held by any party using road data in applications (e.g. providing maps and data sets for use in ADAS and ITS applications).

More about WG3

The overall objective of TN-ITS WG3 is to provide guidelines, best practices, Q&A and other forms of support to the new implementation of road data maintenance, the TN-ITS framework, quality process available for TN-ITS suppliers and certification. WG3 is led by the Swedish Transport Authority (STA).
