After an extraordinary 35-year career dedicated to advancing transport technology and fostering smarter mobility, Suku Phull is retiring. As vice president of TN-ITS (2023-2024) and as a specialist in C-ITS and traffic management at the UK Department for Transport (DfT), Suku has been a driving force in shaping the future of transport data exchange and its implementation.
A Visionary Leader in TN-ITS
Under Suku’s leadership, TN-ITS made significant strides in enabling standardized data sharing by public administrations and road authorities. His efforts have helped bridge the gap between data providers and map and service providers, ensuring that map users benefit from harmonised access to trusted road attribute information, like speed limits
Suku was instrumental in promoting the adoption of the TN-ITS standard across Europe, facilitating collaborations that enhanced navigation, traffic management etc., and improved road safety, and supported urban sustainability. His hands-on approach and deep expertise made him a trusted figure in the TN-ITS community, where his dedication to smarter mobility resonated deeply.
